Why should we book a newborn photoshoot?

The first few days of your baby’s life will go by in a blur of exhilaration, exhaustion and a roller-coaster ride of emotions.  Your baby will change so much in the first few days, and by the time you are all settling into a routine you may struggle to remember the tiny details.  Let me capture them for you!
I also love to include some photographs of the baby with his or her parents and siblings where possible.

When is the best time to book a newborn photoshoot?

The best time to photograph a newborn baby is when they are under 2 weeks of age, as this is when we can get those squishy, sleepy, curled-up poses.
We can still get beautiful images of older babies though (up to 6 weeks); they may just be a little bit harder to settle and could be more likely to have developed baby acne or colic.

The best time to book your newborn session is while you are still pregnant. I will provisionally book you into my diary based on your due date, then once baby has been born the session date can be confirmed or rescheduled as necessary. Babies arrive on their own schedule!
To book a session please use the Contact tab at the top of the page.

Where will the photoshoot take place and how long will it take?

My newborn portrait sessions take place in my cosy studio in Port Erin, but if you prefer the session to take place in your own home please contact me for more details.

I don't set a time limit on my newborn sessions, but they usually take about 4 hours.
The session will be driven entirely by baby’s needs and the pace will be quiet, calm and relaxed. We will follow baby’s cues and break as often as necessary for feeding, changing, cuddling and soothing baby.  I will provide a selection of blankets, props, wraps and hats to use during the session, but if you have an item which you particularly wish to include (maybe a teddy bear or blanket which has special meaning to you) please let me know.

What should we wear?

Once your session has been confirmed I will provide you with detailed information about what to expect from the photoshoot including advice on what to wear.

What happens next?

Following your photoshoot I select the best images from the session which I carefully hand-edit to create beautiful photographic art. This stage can not be rushed!
Approximately 3 - 4 weeks after your photoshoot I will show you the edited images and help you to choose the products which would suit you.

What products can we purchase?

I offer a wide range of beautiful products which are sourced from the best professional labs, including albums, canvases, framed canvases, acrylic prints, wooden prints and folio boxes. Many of the items are produced with museum grade, archival ink and materials and are made to last for many, many years.

You may wish to combine a beautiful printed product with high resolution, digital images which are presented on a carved wooden USB.

Maternity photoshoots

I also offer Maternity sessions which take place between weeks 30 and 36 of your pregnancy; please contact me for more details if you are interested.
